General Questions

Q. What kind of computers do you use?
A. EEI combines easy-to-grasp instruction with hands-on practice using Pentium computers (PC users) and G5s (Mac users). When registering, be sure to specify which platform you prefer to work on.

Q. How large are the classes?
A. Classes usually have 10 or fewer students, although in certain cases, as many as 16 students may be allowed in a class. Classes with more than 8 students generally have 2 instructors. In computer classes, each student works on his or her own computer.

Q. Do I get follow-up support from EEI?
A. As a student in one of our computer training courses, you'll receive 3 months of free telephone or e-mail support on the material covered in your class. If you get stuck, we'll help you get back on track. Just call our Training Coordinators at 703-683-7453 (DC Metro), and we'll pass your message on to the instructor. You'll usually receive a reply within 2 business days.

Q. How can I find out if I've already earned part of a certificate?
A. Send an e-mail to training@eeicom.com. We'll research your course history and let you know how close you are to earning a certificate.

Q. Do EEI classes earn CEUs?
A. Yes. You can use CEUs (Continuing Education Units) for career advancement or as evidence of increased professional competence. After each workshop, participants receive a certificate stating the number of CEUs they have earned.

Q. Is EEI Training on the GSA Schedule?
A. Yes. EEI's GSA contract number is GS-00F-0084N. Federal agencies that purchase EEI Training classes on the GSA Schedule are eligible for favorable tuition rates. Please indicate on your registration that you are purchasing off the GSA Schedule. The appropriate GSA Schedule rate will be applied to your registration.

Registration Questions

Q. How can I find out if there are seats left in a class or get more information on classes?
A. Call our Training Coordinators at 703-683-7453 (DC Metro). We will be able to handle your call most quickly between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.

Q. How do I register for a class?
A.

You can register online through our Web site or call our Training Coordinators at 703-683-7453 (DC Metro).

You may pay using a credit card, a purchase order (subject to approval by EEI), or a check. Please note that payment is due at the time of registration to secure your seat. Until we receive payment, you will be placed on a "tentative list," and your seat may be given to another student. In any case, payment must be processed before the start of class.

Q. What if I have a special need?
A. If you require special accommodations to fully participate in our classes, please attach a written explanation to your registration form. An EEI staff member will call you. Please give us as much advance notice as you can and we will try to arrange reasonable accommodation in the time available. Accommodation for those who do not submit a request with the registration form cannot be guaranteed. If EEI contracts for interpreters or any other vendors on the basis of your request and you cancel fewer than 5 business days before the class, you will be responsible for the cost of the interpreters or other vendors.

Q. Will I receive a confirmation of my registration?
A. Each night we fax confirmations to students who registered that day. If for some reason your fax machine does not answer, we will mail your confirmation. If you do not receive confirmation of your registration within 5 days, please call our Training Coordinators at 703-683-7453 (DC Metro).

Q. What if my company needs an invoice in order to pay?
A. Please call our Training Coordinators at 703-683-7453 (DC Metro). We will fax an invoice to your company.

Q. What happens if I need to cancel?
A. All cancellations must be in writing. If you cancel more than 5 business days before your class, your tuition will be refunded minus a $50 cancellation fee. If you cancel fewer than 5 business days before your class or fail to show up the day of class, you will not receive a refund and will be responsible for the full tuition.

Q. What happens if I change to another session?
A. Each session change at the student's request requires an additional advance payment of $50.

Q. Can I substitute a co-worker in my place if I can't attend?
A. Yes. Just make sure that the student has met the class prerequisites. Please call us or have the person call us 24 hours before the class starts so we can change the registration and the certificate. There is no fee for a co-worker substitution.

Q. Can a co-worker take my space in a different class?
A. Yes, with 5 days' notice and a $50 transfer fee. If the tuition for the new class is more than that of the old class, your company will have to prepay the difference.

Q. What if I need to take my class on another date?
A. Please call us at least 5 days ahead of the class date; otherwise you will be charged the full tuition.

Walk toward the yellow columns, watching for signs for Building 66. Take the elevator to Suite 200 and sign in. (If no visitor spaces are available, go down one more level to the general-use area with yellow columns.) Parking is $9.00 per day. Alternative parking is available at a lot on Montgomery Street between N. Fairfax Street and the train tracks for $7.00 per day. This facility is recommended for van parking.

Q. Is there anything I should know about taking mass transit?
A.

In Alexandria, take Metro's blue or yellow line to the Braddock Road Station. Canal Center provides free shuttle service between the station and 66 Canal Center Plaza. The white CarrAmerica van operates every 15 minutes during rush hours and every 30 minutes midday and picks up passengers from the Kiss-n-Ride area of the station.

In Silver Spring, take the Red Line to the Silver Spring station. Exit the station and walk towards Wayne Avenue and the Discovery Building. Our office is on the right side of Wayne Avenue, immediately after you cross Georgia Avenue.

Q. What if my company needs to reach me during the day?
A. Have them call the main number of the campus and we will give you the message at break time. In an emergency, we will bring the message to you in class.

Q. What about lunch?
A.

You may either bring your lunch or plan to eat out. Each campus has a kitchen with a refrigerator and microwave and a break room with tables. Each campus also has restaurants within walking distance -- our Training Coordinators and instructors can give you directions. There is a 1-hour lunch break each day.

The Silver Spring Restaurant Locator Map will give you an idea of your options in the area, although restaurants come and go faster than the map is updated. (Maps are not available for our other locations.)
