In this course, you'll take apart, check, and upgrade personal computers and put them back together. You'll see the components of computer systems and learn the internal hardware settings that make those systems function as reliably as possible. Topics include:

  • Preventive maintenance procedures to extend computer life
  • Modifications of computer systems to improve efficiency
  • Building a computer from scratch
  • Isolating problems
  • Installing and managing hardware
  • Understanding FAT
  • Running PC diagnostic programs to check PC condition
  • Understanding SCSI drives
  • Understanding bits and bytes
  • Learning base 2 to base 10 conversion
  • Recovering deleted files
  • Monitoring system performance
