This class is designed for current Mac users who want to use their Macs more effectively and also for Windows users who now want to get up to speed on a Mac. This course moves quickly from introducing the basics of the Macintosh environment to explaining why and how you need to work within the structure of the Mac interface to showing you the cool stuff that will help you work efficiently and productively and happily.

This course is taught using Leopard, and is the foundation for all Macintosh courses at EEI Communications. Topics include:

  • Introduction to the Finder, and learning how and why you should work within the structure built into the Macintosh
  • Naming, copying, deleting, and moving files and folders
  • Making aliases in the Places Sidebar, on the Dock, and on the Desktop
  • Setting System Preferences
  • Customizing the Dock
  • Running multiple applications
  • Using Exposé
  • Adding and customizing Widgets
  • Using Spotlight to do searches
  • Creating new User accounts
  • Learning about the new features in Leopard, such as Time Machine, Spaces, and Stacks

Prerequisite: Some familiarity with computers, either Macintosh or Windows.
