Levels of Editing
Does your text need just a coat of paint, or is the whole
structure weak?
- Proofreading - Before you print, take time to eliminate typos and formatting
errors.
- Copyediting - Grammar, spelling, punctuation, basic math, and stylistic
consistency: we can make sure they're right.
- Substantive Editing - You know what you want to say, but will your
readers? Let us reorganize text, rewrite awkward sections,
write transitions, add heads and subheads, and eliminate
redundancy for a polished piece that lets your message
shine.

Types of Editing
Specialized documents need expert editors.
- Electronic
Editing - Don't rekey a marked-up paper manuscript.
Instead, review the editor's suggested changes, clearly
marked in a word processing file. Accept what you agree
with, reject what you don't, and your file is ready to
go!
- Medical
Editing - Statistical analysis, specialized terminology
- it's got to be right, and it's got to be readable. You
can rely on EEI's experienced medical editors to ensure
both.
- Technical
Editing - The right style, the right vocabulary,
and an obsessive attention to detail are what it takes
to edit scientific, engineering, and other technical documents.
